Meet Harper Buchanan | Wellington Birth Photographer

24 March at 8:24.  Our little 7lb 1oz Harper came screaming into our lives.  She is the most beautiful niece a clucky aunty could ever want.
Thank you all of my lovely clients who have been so patient with me while I help get my little family on their feet. She is feeding like a champion...now if we can just teach her night from day.

Casting for the White Goddess

We are looking for up to three models to portray the White Goddess.  This is a collaborative project between Mandi Lynn of A La Mode, Designer Kerry Hughes, and Milliner Liza Foreman. The 4 dresses are exquisite and we are creating art for submission for Editorials, as well as creating Gallery pieces.

PinUp A La Mode at the Museum Hotel confirmed!

So we just confirmed our hair and makeup Artists for our Day at the Museum Hotel.  We are going to have the amazingly talented team of Emily Belle from Belles Bombshells and Natalie from Hil Cook.  I am so excited. They were a wonder team for out Americarna A La Mode Calendar shoot and can't wait to see what they do for the beautiful ladies we already have signed up for the day.  There are two spaces left so if you are quick you might just get in. The Magpie and the Dragonfly

Once upon a time there was a dragonfly  whose head was in the clouds and who flitted from beautiful thing to beautiful thing .  One day dragonfly was planning a huge trip but before her trip she saw a vision, a vision of such beauty her wings stopped beating for just a moment.  Her vision was so perfect she realized that she must make sure it happened... but she was due to leave...who would help her?  So she flew to her friend Magpie and told her what she saw.  Now magpie she rubbed her feathers together and said “That is a beautiful dream Dragonfly... how can I help?”  Dragonfly said “you could be my getter while I am gone” and Magpie said “no problem...the shinier the better.” 

So Dragonfly went on her trip and while she was gone through the miracle of Facebook...yes Magpies and Dragonflies also use the blessed thing, she told Magpie all that she needed to make her dream come true....13 vintage American cars and drivers, 17 beautiful models, a girl Friday, 5 hair artists, 4 makeup artists, a costumier, a clothing designer, two graphic designers, a printer, a real estate tycoon, a photography shop, a photographer, a garage, a studio, some food and drink, a stint on the Morning Show,  a fire on a beach, firemen, the parks department, and a baby.  Magpie flew until her feathers were falling out but Magpie found them all.  And when the labour was complete...out popped Dragonfly’s vision: Americarna A la Mode..a beautiful charity calendar made by Wellington Creatives to support the most vulnerable of our community the families in with babies in the Special care unit . 

In the middle of producing the calendar the Christchurch Earthquake hit and the Printers said why don’t you print some more to raise money for the people of Christchurch.  Magpie and Dragonfly said....but of course.  So each calendar you buy supports the good people of Christchurch and the beautiful babies of the special care unit at the Hutt Hospital.

Calendars will be available by the end of April and are Anniversary calendars so they never expire.

Georgia is my Go To Girl!  Georgia I need to put a fire on a beach for a photoshoot can you get the fire department on board?  No problem.  Georgia I need 60 volunteers coordinated can you do it?  No problem. Georgia I want one of the girls in a Parade can you organize it?  No problem.  We need to Market the calendar.  No problem how about the Morning show.  Georgia I want hair hero Derek Elvy on the crew can you arrange it...Done.  And that was just the beginning. I love this girl!

Winner the face of Doll Face MakeUp | Wellington Model Photographer

Our gorgeous Abby came to us for a photograph with her boyfriend Alex.  She was so lovely that I convinced her to do a modelling session on the spot.  Do you know she took one of the images and won a contract with Dollface makeup.  I am so proud of her!!!!

Totally Frocked Costume Hire Rocks!

Just want to give a shout out to Totally Frocked Costume Hire.  They were so amazing to work with on the Americarna A la Mode Shoot.   They gave us free reign of their warehouse of gorgeous frocks.  I felt like a kid in a candy store!  They were amazing and the costumes were so much fun.  Thanks again ladies!  Here was my absolute favourite of their pieces, when I saw it I just about went to pieces.  I wanted a deconstructed hoop skirt for the Queen of Hearts....they had one with jewels and ribbons on it.  Be still my beating heart!

If you need any costumes for fancy dress or want something period and cool to do an Engagement shoot in then these are the guys to see.

After the Car shoots I would often take the models out for a little bit of fun and we would do some individual shoots.  Loved this one of the gorgeous Jacquie.

So Much talent in this girl!.  Ellen was a late entry into the calendar team but quickly made up for lost time.  What a gem.  She sent us the most amazing sketches of her ideas but they were nothing compared to what she achieved on the day.  Her brief was a retro Paris Hilton hits the slopes.  Wow did she rock it!  

First of all the model (Jepha Krieg) is adorable and had to put up with Georgia and I asking her how perky her breasts were (we got our models from online volunteers)....response " There good.... still in my early twenties" Bless her heart she was a complete gem! So much charisma in such a small package.  Watch out world what ever this girl sets her mind to she will rock and make it fun for everyone else who is lucky enough to tag along.
