Mardi Gras Queen meets Hiawatha | Wellington Fashion Photographer

When I lived in the Akatarawa Valley there were several feral peacocks that had escaped from Staglands.  You would come across one occasionally perched in a unexpected location with this beautiful long train of a tail flowing and the bird eyeing you up trying to decide if it should fly away or if you were safe. I usually stopped the car to photograph them as they despite their not so lovely call are one of my favourite birds for obvious reasons, and I just love finding unexpected beauty.  That was the case as well with Giatri and her team of Sopheak Seng the dress designer, and Lucy her hair and makeup artist.  It was absolutely stunning what they created together.

Our Beautiful Emily.  Now Emily told me after this shoot that it was her first time modelling but it had been a dream of hers.  She is the owner of Belles Bombshells and does beautiful retro hairstyling and has been instrumental in getting many of the pinup looks together for this calendar.  Beautiful girl.

This shoot is our 13th month.  I saw the dress in totally Frocked and just felt an overwhelming desire to create a look for it but I didn't have a model.  So I went back to my boutique and was trying to figure it out when Nicola walked in.  Problem solved.  She is the daughter of my son's first grade teacher and I have watched her blossom into the most gorgeous creature over the years.  She was nervous as could be as it was her first time modelling but I think she rocked it don't you?  She is a cross between Marilyn Monroe and Drew Barrymore when she smiles....stunning.
