Ellie Belly | Wellington Family Photographer

What a crazy crack up! Jo, Andrew, and Ellie were so much fun to photograph.  The love in this family is as palpable as their expansive sense of humour.  My favourite moments were when Jo was trying to get Ellie to wear the fairy wings and she looked at her mum like she was just slightly to the left of daft.  So Jo donned them herself.  After much rock chucking in the river Andrew hefted Ellie on to his shoulders and she proceeded to enact a barn yard scene on his head with her plastic cow...she also found a unique grip for her location as pictured below...Sorry Andrew but I had too it was so funny!  And the mischief face that Ellie made when she was coming to put sand on my shoes.  I almost didn't get the shot I was laughing so hard at her little face....see if you can spot it in the square 9 image.
I love how Ellie's faces can move so seamlessly through from sheer little devil to completely Angelic.

Carlo the Cutest | Wellington Newborn Photographer

I met the beautiful Simone and Farrand at my breastfeeding class... Boobs in the Berries.  They were lively, curious, and funny and even tolerated my crazy class crashing Pukeko, Puku, playing with their shoes in the class.  I really enjoyed their company and I was so excited when they said they wanted to do a photoshoot as well.  Because lets face it they are both stunners! Puku even came back to visit them during the photoshoot.  She wanted to meet Carlo as well I imagine.    They are so beautiful and fun to be with.  What a lovely shoot.

Darlin Aimee | Wellington's Pregnancy Photographer

Cute as a button wee Aimee is and absolutely adored by her family.  It was a complete pleasure doing this shoot and I can't wait to meet baby!  It is funny how pregnancy shoots are so different depending on whether a mother is a first time mum or not.  By the second birth it is hard to just focus on the pregnancy shots when you have such gorgeous little moppets running around.

Little Lucy | Wellington Children's Photographer

Lucy is a cut up that is for sure.  This little woman knew her mind and was not afraid to tell you.  And what a sense of humour.  I really enjoyed hanging out with Miss Lucy and he folks, good people, and good fun!

The Best Family | Wellington Birth Photographer

Sarah and I met over a year ago on a photo shoot where she brought along her very pregnant belly and her gorgeous girls Lucy and Sophie and handsome Rich.  I fell in love with the girls and was very blessed to be invited to the birth of the baby Kendra.  This was my first experience doing birth photography professionally, and I absolutely loved it.  I worked for years as an obstetrical nurse delivering babies around the world but this was the first time I didn't have to even think about anything but the beauty and the art of what I was seeing.  I was completely hooked so if you are at all considering having your birth photographed please do not hesitate to contact me as I would love to be involved.  Anyway, here are some of my favourite images of Sarah and her wonderful family, and if you look closely you will find a few at the birth as well.

Mandi Lynn's Fashion Work featured in this months Simply You Magazine

How Exciting.  This month some of my work featured in My Wedding (back cover) and Simply You.  I am rapt and over the moon.  The content was fashion work I had done for Basquesse fashion house in Wellington.   Thank you so much Vivianna for your belief in my work.

In Honour of my Student and Good Friend Tanja Tress

The picture to the left is my favourite picture I have taken of my dear student Tanja.  Tanja came to my studio in January of this year to study photography with me.  What I didn't expect was that we would become such amazing friends.  Tanja and I sometimes are like an old married couple that can finish each others sentences, and are very comfortable and happy chatting or just sharing each others company in silence.  The funniest thing about Tanja and I are that we both are incredibly reverent of humanity and think people are absolutely amazing but our visions are completely and totally at polar opposites.  This is what keeps things interesting in our teacher student relationship.  I have taught Tanja the mechanics of photography but I have left it wide open for her to develop and explore her own unique style.  I have pushed her boundaries and encouraged her to trust herself, laugh at herself, and be courageous for her vision.  But she has motivated herself, dug deep and found her true passion in photography.  I just pushed her.....but she had the courage to fly.  Her style is beautiful and edgy, a bit dark but in a way that leaves you thinking.  She has made me look again at the ugly that I would have not considered in the past, to see through it into its own unique beauty.  Sometimes the student can become the teacher as well.  I would like to share with you her blog and website.  She will leave me soon for new adventures and a very promising career in photography.

Mask of the Moon

This little darling knew exactly what she liked and how to carry and present herself.  I felt like I was in the well rehearsed production of a play that had been scripted by her for years.  There were so many images from the shoot that I loved but there was something about this one that required me to push it that much further.
